Mariah Ede’s Strong Start Goes South at Antioch Speedway
Mariah Ede and the Mariah Ede Racing No. 14 team were back in action with NARC on Saturday night in Antioch, CA where Ede had a very good start to the night, but issues at the start of the Dash essentially spoiled the fun.
“The night started out great for our team, and we were all really happy considering the struggle the last couple of outings have been, but unfortunately an issue in the Dash essentially ended our night pretty abruptly,” Mariah Ede said.
After an extended few sessions of hot laps taking place as the track was extremely wet and greasy, Ede was able to lay down a great lap in qualifying time trials as she timed the Pacific Boring/M&L Plumbing/Circle J5 Ranch backed No. 14 in third fastest overall.
With the surface still very fast in heat race action, Ede needed to finish inside the Top-5 to make the Dash. Lining up in the second row of the night’s last heat race, Ede was a little too tight as she raced into turns one and two.
Losing a couple of positions early, Ede settled into fifth as she worked around the Antioch Speedway. Finishing fifth, the Fresno, CA driver was locked into the Dash, where she took the green flag from the outside of the second row.
When the Dash went green, trouble instantly struck Ede as her car got upset in turns one and two and she shot straight into the outside crash wall and made hard contact. Though she was able to quickly escape the wreckage, her car is severely damaged.
Getting back to the pit area, Ede’s team went to work to try and get her set for the feature event. Straightening out what they could, they hooked a set of Coil-over shocks to the front end as she was set to start the feature.
Lining up sixth, the damaged car was extremely hard to maneuver on the fast racing surface.
Doing what she could, Ede ultimately called it a night on the 10th lap.
“It was good to have that kind of speed, and I am really thankful to everyone that continues to help,” Ede said. “Unfortunately, we will have to get a new car ready for Trophy Cup which means we have a few long nights ahead.”
Mariah Ede and the Mariah Ede Racing team would like to thank Pacific Boring, M&L Plumbing, Circle J5 Ranch, FK Rod Ends, and MetTec Titanium for their support.
